The Lady with an Emine is one of only four surviving portrait paintings of women attributed to the Italian Renaissance master, Leonardo da Vinci. Cecillia Gallerani, the mistress of Ludovico Sforza, Leonardo's Milanese employer, is depicted holding an unusual animal – an ermine.
